An Orchestra of Harmony and Beauty, the Voice of Youth

——Global Young Leaders Dialogue (GYLD) China Tour in Qingdao

Qingdao in Shandong Province is the first stop of the Global Young Leaders Dialogue (GYLD) China Tour 2022. The tour is themed on the economic and trade cooperation under the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and the sustainable development of youth. From July 29th to 31st, youth from 10 countries visited the China-SCO Local Economic and Trade Cooperation Demonstration Area (SCODA), Qingdao Port and other places to learn about the SCO’s innovative model of international cooperation, featuring openness and interconnectivity. Participants learned about the important achievements and experiences of Qingdao in building an economic corridor as the New Eurasian Continental Bridge, which falls under the Belt and Road Initiative and enhances maritime cooperation.

Qingdao Qianwan Container Terminal, belonging to Shandong Port Group, is the first automated container terminal in Asia. There are more than 100 colossal machines and pieces of equipment constantly running automatically with zero emissions, which stunned the global youth. They were also impressed by the high efficiency of this container terminal with its “Zhenchao efficiency,” which is well-known around the world. Rows of bridge cranes were arranged in an orderly manner, quickly and stably handling dozens of tons of containers. During this visit, the global youth came to understand that Qingdao Port, as an international shipping hub in Northeast Asia, is offering services and merging into major routes of economic and trade in RCEP with the help of high-efficiency loading and unloading and multiple shipping routes.
