Founder and Executive Director, Center for East African Studies

Hodan Osman Abdi

Dr Hodan Osman Abdi is a university lecturer and research fellow at the Institute of African Studies at Zhejiang Normal University. She is also the founder and executive director of the Center for East African Studies and the Deputy Director for the Center for African Film and TV Studies at IASZNU.

 

In addition to teaching and mentoring responsibilities, Dr Hodan oversees the research, teaching and publication activities of these two centers. She has published over a dozen academic articles, book chapters and media articles and translated books on a range of subjects relating to Media Economics, Communications, Youth Empowerment and Entrepreneurship, as well as China-Africa relations. She is also the co-director of the award winning documentary film Africans in Yiwu.
